Boink Day

For the third year now Spring Advertising + Design has been celebrating the first day of spring with an event they created called Boink Day, a public pogo challenge that takes place on the North side of the Vancouver Art Gallery. For every pogo bounce performed by participants, Spring Advertising will donate ten cents to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. This year Spring had asked us to help out with the photography and post work, the shoot was a ton of fun and it is great to give back to the community.

Applied Arts Photography Win

Well it’s been a pretty good month for us starting with having an image we worked on selected for  the cover of the current issue of Archive Magazine. We have just found out that a campaign we produced for ourselves just won in four categories in the up and coming Applied Arts Photography Annual. Special thanks to Rob Sweetman, Andrew Alblas and Racheal Harrison of Dare Vancouver for developing these great concepts for us.

Tsawwassen Paintball ads make Lurzer’s Archive cover

Every now and again we get asked to assist and donate our time on a project as well as guest speak at a few of our community colleges. This past year we had an opportunity to speak and work with some students at Langara College in Vancouver BC to help prepare them for an up coming photography assignment led by DDB, Vancouver’s Daryl Gardiner and Keven Rathgerber. The opportunity for students to put their skills to the test and work with a world renowned advertising agency, art director, writer and retoucher can be that one lucky chance to get their foot in the door and showcase what they can do. It was an honour to be involved with this project and a pleasure to retouch these images. We just found out that one of the images made the cover of issue 6/2011 Lurzer’s Archive, the holy grail of our industries magazines.

Congratulations to all who contributed their amazing talents to this project and special thanks to Lisa Kaulback and Daryl Gardner for asking us to be involved.

TOA Ad

The Orange Apple was approached by Andrew Ablas and Rob Sweetman of Dare, Vancouver with an offer to create some ads for us. We jumped at the opportunity and the ideas they came up with are very cool. Here is the first to three.

Suva

The Orange Apple recently produced a an ad for Suva Switzerland. It is always a great experiend working with Dan Strasser @ Leo Burnette Switzerland. We shot a live pigeon in our studio and created the cabinet in CG.
